Crazy Cousins

Here are Andrew and Sam, with their visiting 3rd cousins, from left, Caitlin, Ashlyn and Ryan. They spent the night with us last night with their mom, Jenny (Shannon's 2nd cousin). They are on a journey up the coast. They started in Mesa, AZ and have visited San Diego, San Francisco, the redwoods, the Oregon coast and the Washington coast. This morning, they drove to Anacortes, WA to catch a ferry to the San Juan Islands, and hopefully see some orca whales on the way! Their final destination is Sagle, ID, where Jenny's mom has a home near ours. We will get to spend more time with them next week, which the kids are already looking forward to.

Man Vs. Wild

Andrew's favorite show these days is Discovery Channel's "Man Vs. Wild". In the show, Bear Grilis (his real name? I'm not sure) gets dropped off in the middle of nowhere to show survival techniques in various climates and habitats. He does crazy stuff; in a recent episode in the Florida Everglades, he swam in alligator-infested water and ate some frogs. Andrew likes to do "Man Vs. Wild" in our backyard by climbing the fence and exploring the forest behind our house. So far, he hasn't eaten any bugs, but I wouldn't put it past him!

Camano Island

After t-ball, we headed north to Camano Island for an overnight stay with friends Joe and Jane McGeehan. Their home sits on the western edge of the island, on a bluff overlooking Puget Sound and Whidbey Island. Needless to say, the sunset was spectacular.

For Father's Day, we joined our friends Stan and Libby Ray, with their extended family, at the Everett Aqua Sox game. The weather wasn't too cooperative (constant cold drizzle), but the kids had fun, and got to play catch with Alan on the field after the game.

Sam's t-ball

Sam had his final t-ball game on Saturday, and it was kids vs. grown-ups (and older siblings). Of course, the kids won in a rout, with some selective umpiring to help out. Sam went 3 for 3, with two singles and a double, though his 1st-base-playing brother really tried to get him out. We celebrated with donuts and trophies after the game!

Buddies

Brett is spending the afternoon with Sam and I today. They're friends since birth, fellow Packer fans and baseball teammates. And, they were so happy to see each other that they insisted on sharing a chair at lunchtime.

Timber!

We had the large fir tree in our backyard removed last week. We were sad to see it go, but after the windstorms we had last winter we decided it was risky to keep it.

The guys who did the removal were amazing, especially the one who scaled the tree and cut it down piece by piece. It's definitely work for a daredevil.

Here's a picture from the Mariners game on June 3rd, attended by Little Leaguers from all over Western Washington. Andrew and 4 teammates are shown here, along with their siblings!

Back row - Carson, Callie, Julia, Sam, Jake, Taylor

Front row - ???(Don't know the names of the first two on the left), Andrew, Dominic, Gabriel and Tommy
