Two Conversations

Andrew: Is macaroni and cheese a protein food?
Mom: No, it's more of a carbohydrate, or energy food.
Andrew: Like ants?
Mom: (speechless)
Andrew: Man vs. Wild says that ants are an energy food, so they must be carbohydrates.
Mom: And he would know.


Sam: Kayla from my class is in love with me, but I don't love her. She chases me around the playground, but I run away. Sometimes Evan helps me run away.
Andrew: I'm not really interested in love. I don't really get it.

Sam's basketball

Sam had his 2nd game today in the YMCA basketball league. He had fun, and made a couple of baskets. His team is well-coached by a dad who used to coach our local high school team. He's a pretty serious coach for 6-7 year olds, but they're learning a lot. Sam's best friend from kindergarten, Rocco (in picture above) is on his team too.

Sam's Smile

Sam's smile evolved again today when his other front tooth came out! It had been barely hanging in all day, but he wouldn't let anyone pull it. This morning it started to bleed, and he resembled something out of a scary movie. Finally, it came out in his pasta at dinner. You can already see both of his new front teeth peeking through, so he may not look like this for long!

Random Saturday night

Here's what we're up to on this rainy Saturday night.....

The Harvey kids are spending the night tonight while their parents host a party. It's fun to have them here.

We haven't had much in the way of interesting news lately. We're all back to work and school. Sam had a check-up last Wednesday, and he is 4 feet tall, 62 lbs. and a healthy guy. When Sam went back to school on Monday, he reported that, "Just about everyone in my class lost a tooth over the break!"

Christmas Images, and the Longest Christmas Break Ever

As of today, Andrew and Sam have been out of school for Two Entire Weeks. This is thanks to 3 snow days, and a generous scheduled break. We (mostly me) are getting a little stir crazy with crummy weather and too many video games, but we'll try to enjoy the next few days anyway.

Alan is thankful to have Pennsylvania teams to root for this year. We're looking forward to the Penn St. Rose Bowl game, the Eagles being in the NFL playoffs, and still savoring the Phillies WS win in October. The boys and I had these newspaper images framed for him for Christmas.

It's looking like a White Christmas

We're snowed in, and have been for several days! Sam may never have such a snowy birthday again. We're trying to avoid going stir-crazy with sledding, snow football, and Christmas preparations. Shannon ventured out to play 4 performances of "Messiah" over the weekend, but otherwise we were stuck home. The symphony did cancel one performance, the Sat. night, and it was the first concert they had canceled since the 80's.
